Travel begins at the airport

For me, a journey doesn’t begin when the plane takes off, but the moment I arrive at the airport. The mood you experience from the very first moments of a trip can shape how the entire journey unfolds.

This time, I flew to Istanbul at the invitation of Birun Ada Hotel. After spending three days in Istanbul, I returned to Baku. I usually arrive at the airport around two hours before my flight, but this time I came three hours early and headed straight to the Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge.

Turkish Airlines Business Lounge, İstanbul hava limanı

One of the things I appreciate most about the Turkish Airlines Business Lounge is how it makes the time before a flight feel like a natural part of the journey rather than just a waiting period. Whether it’s finding a quiet corner to relax, enjoying a good meal, or simply taking a moment to unwind before boarding, the atmosphere makes the whole travel experience feel a little more comfortable and enjoyable.

The food is another highlight. There’s a lovely variety of hot dishes, fresh salads, snacks, and desserts, with plenty of options to suit different tastes. But for me, there’s one simple favourite I always look forward to: the lentil soup. It’s something I genuinely enjoy every time I visit. There’s something comforting about finding a familiar taste while travelling, and it’s these small, thoughtful details that make the Turkish Airlines Business Lounge experience memorable.

Another feature I really appreciate at the Turkish Airlines Business Lounge is the luggage storage lockers. Made of glass, these lockers are operated using fingerprint recognition. You can leave your suitcase securely inside and enjoy your time in the lounge without having to carry your luggage around.

It’s a small convenience that makes a real difference, especially when you have a few hours before your flight. You can move around freely, enjoy a meal, or simply relax without worrying about your luggage. When it’s time to leave, all you need to do is scan your fingerprint, collect your suitcase, and make your way to the gate. It’s a simple, well-thought-out touch that makes the time before a flight feel that much easier.

And that sense of ease carries through once you step on board. Flying Turkish Airlines Business Class feels like a natural continuation of the lounge experience. With a comfortable seat, plenty of personal space, a good selection of entertainment, and attentive cabin crew, it’s easy to settle in and enjoy the journey.

During the flight, you can choose from a range of films and other entertainment. Sometimes I enjoy watching a movie, while other times I prefer to sit back, relax, and enjoy some quiet time. Having the freedom to choose is important, as it allows everyone to spend their time on board in their own way.

Of course, dining is another important part of the in-flight experience. Having a variety of options and attention to presentation makes the journey even more enjoyable. For me, however, it is not just about the food itself, but about how every aspect of the service comes together seamlessly.

The more I travel, the more I realise that a comfortable journey is about much more than just a good seat or a nice meal. Every detail contributes to the overall experience, from how you spend your time at the airport, how conveniently your luggage is stored, to the personal space you have on board and the service provided throughout the flight.

That was the main advantage for me on this trip. From the moment I entered the airport until I stepped off the plane, I felt comfortable at every stage of the journey.

The three days I spent in Istanbul were a wonderful experience in their own right. Thanks to a kind invitation from Birun Ada Hotel, I had the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of a city I love once again and unwind at a slightly different pace.

For me, a great trip is not simply about travelling from one city to another. The journey itself is part of the experience. That is why feeling comfortable from the moment I arrive at the airport matters so much to me.

And this time was no exception. I spent some peaceful time in the Turkish Airlines Business Lounge, enjoyed my favourite lentil soup, stored my luggage with ease, and then made my way to the flight. On board, that same sense of comfort continued, making for a relaxing and pleasant flight.

Ultimately, what I enjoyed most about this Turkish Airlines journey was the seamless experience from beginning to end — because travel begins at the airport, and the feeling of comfort continues all the way until you land.
